Math Challenge Tournament is a National Mathematics tournament. It provides a valuable and fun opportunity for our young students to show case their skills in a variety of math topics. The questions are carefully designed with two focuses in mind: math fundamental and problem-solving skills.   Date and Time: Nov 28, 2018, 6:45 – 7:45 PM  Location: Commons, Ella Baker Elementary School  Participating Students: Grade 2 – 6 students. A HUGE thank you to all of our wonderful families who have donated to the Build the Bear Fund. Our bear fund was definitely built raising nearly $15,000 in just two short weeks!  Thanks to everyone’s tremendous generosity these funds will be used to help ensure our brand new school has the necessary resources and programs in place in year one. We have already been able to purchase a new sound system for school and PTSA events, get our Bear mascot outfitted on day 1, purchase books for our library, help welcome and unify the school with each student’s name ... read full article

Baker Bears are you ready for the picture day on Sep 20th? Please note, all students will receive a free class photo whether or not they have purchased separate individual photo packages. If you are a volunteer, please feel free to come and get your photo taken for a volunteer badge anytime between 8:45-1:00 PM. We do encourage volunteers to come before school starts to avoid having to wait between classes to get your photo taken. Ella Baker Elementary will have an assembly to honor our veterans on Tuesday, November 6th at 2:30 PM in the Baker Gym/Commons. The Reflections Program  is a National PTA cultural arts competition. It's Easy Being Green!
We are looking for a Sustainability Chair volunteer for 2018-2019 to work on green projects with the Sustainability Chairs from the PTSA council and other LWSD PTSAs. This is a great opportunity to work on projects/policies that will positively impact the students and the community. Some potential project ideas are: food recovery, waste reduction/composting/recycling, herbicide-free schools, reducing exposure to lead, green cleaning, idle-free zones, food policy etc.  You can help make a difference!
