PTSA provides opportunities to help enrich your child's education. In addition to the after school opportunities listed here, PTSA also supports (with volunteers and/or through financial support) a variety of school-day enrichment programs including assemblies, author visits, our Art Volunteer program, field trips, service learning, scholastic magazines, a school garden, STEAM activities, and student leadership clubs.

LEARN AND PLAY- ACTIVE MINDS: gym
Grades K-3: Mondays 8-9am ($226)
The Active Minds Class is a fusion between Physical Education and Social Emotional Learning; bringing together fast paced and exciting team building challenges while teaching themes such as self-awareness, social awareness, conflict resolution, diversity, the circle of control and many more. SMART WITH ART: commons

Join Smart with Art as we explore an assortment of art mediums in an education environment. Discover art history and culture content as we expand our creative mind with our imagination. Each session, students will delve into a variety of art materials and methods through our processed oriented exciting lessons. Experience clay, sculpture, metal, printmaking, charcoal, watercolors, acrylic, pastels and more! Each session offers all new and exciting projects, a variety of materials and methods, and stimulating art experiences. Our session includes a sketchbook and concludes with an enriching art show. Lil Ballers: A after-school program for students of ALL SKILL sets in the 1st - 3rd grades. Students will have a blast learning the fundamentals of basketball, sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy habits while practicing skills and having fun. Sessions are designed for students to explore the game in a fun and nurturing environment. Exciting games such as “Fry the bacon” and sharks and minnows” are enjoyed.
Ballers: A after-school program for students of ALL skill sets in the 4th & 5th grades. Sessions are fun filled with exciting games like “poison” and “bump” and also feature fundamental training like ball handling, passing and shooting. CTB Basketball Website
FREESPEAK- PERSUASIVE COMMUNICATIONS: commons
Grades 3-5: Tuesdays 4-5pm ($269):
This Persuasive Communication Bootcamp teaches the essentials of compelling communication through games and activities. Taught by the champion of Harvard University's 49th Annual Speech and Debate Tournament, students will learn how to form a thesis, research arguments, and use body language to effectively communicate their points of view. The course culminates in each student presenting the speech they have developed on the topic of their choice to fellow students, coaches, and parents at our showcase. Our camp's personalized instruction is designed to teach the power of persuasion, whether they are beginner or seasoned speakers. (9 weeks) Free Speak Website

Kids learn chess in a fun, safe environment with encouragement, independent practice resources, and engaging lessons. We strive to ensure every student is learning a new skill in each class! RAINY DAY DINNER CLUB: commons
Grades 3-5: Wednesdays 2:20-4:30pm ($555)
Each week, students learn basic cooking skills while making dinner for their family! We use the perspective of food, cooking, and nutrition to learn about geography, math skills, science, and culture, while helping kids develop a lifelong love of fresh ingredients. Our hands-on cooking classes are fun and delicious, and are a wonderful way to develop enthusiasm for the kitchen, while practicing knife skills and kitchen safety. Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development. Our caring team positively impacts children’s lives on and off the field through best-in-class coaching, communication and curriculum. Our expert-approved curriculum is age-appropriate and aligns with childhood education standards. Soccer Shots focuses on individual skill, fitness, and sportsmanship, providing an opportunity for children to be challenged through fun games and team interaction. We are bringing Little Green Acres craft studio to school so young crafters can have fun and create beautiful projects while stretching their imaginations and learning new skills. Whether they’re creating mosaics, making seasonal decor, working with clay, resin, wood, jewelry, fabric, glass, or creating something special, your child will have a blast! ODYSSEY STEM INSTITUTE: VEX ROBOTICS

This educational (non-competitive) robotics class uses VEX Go (K-2)/VEX IQ (3-5) equipment in a tactile makerspace for experientially-focused enlightenment appropriate for those seeking to discover, develop and evolve in their affinity for robotics. Our class is an immersive, unconventional experience that challenges individuals to lean into their natural inquisitiveness through mindful strategies and merges S.T.E.M. subject matters with meaningful, engaging recreational activities. We incorporate social-emotional well-being by igniting one's confidence, self-awareness, growth mindset, respect, empathy and agency to make responsible decisions. At Odyssey S.T.E.M. Institute, individuals will explore digital 3D schematics, observe, manipulate and propagate a robot's behavior and utilize block-based and text-based coding. (7 weeks) Odyssey STEM Robotics Website

Policy and FAQs
Each after-school enrichment class requires volunteer chaperones to attend EACH class. A 50% discount on the class price is offered to the volunteer chaperone's child. If you are interested in committing to be the volunteer chaperone, please email enrichment@ellabakerptsa.org BEFORE you register your child for a class. See the Volunteer Chaperone Agreement for responsibilities. If a volunteer chaperone is not found for a class, that class will be cancelled.

The curriculum of each class is suitable for both new and continuing students, as the instructors of each class adapt the curriculum to ensure all students are learning.
To be inclusive of all students in our learning community, scholarships based on financial need are available. If you need a scholarship, please email the school councilor Melissa Foss at mfoss@lwsd.org. Financial need scholarship students will be given priority registration by reserving 10% of class enrollment. If these spots are not claimed, they will be released to the waiting list.
Refunds will ONLY be issued until registration closes. Withdrawing from the class after the first class will result in NO refund. To request a refund & withdraw from class email enrichment@ellabakerptsa.org
Late registration, shortly after registration closes, MIGHT be permitted- at the discretion of the PTSA- with a 25$ late fee.
