Get ready for an exciting Theatre Week with Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT)! This year’s school play is Pinocchio, and students in grades K-5 are invited to participate.

Author Visit
Author, Lily LaMotte, is Coming to Ella Baker!
Ella Baker welcomes Author, Lily LaMotte, on Monday, March 3rd. PTSA is excited to sponsor this event.
Lily LaMotte is a debut author of the funny and heart-warming graphic novel, Measuring Up, which explores family love, self-identity, embracing diversity and more. Her other books include Unhappy Camper, and a picture book, Chloe’s Lunar New Year. Our school is partnering with Brick & Mortar Books for families to order their own signed copies of these books. Order deadline is next Monday, February 24th.

5th Grade Baby Photos Due
Hello 5th grade families!
Every year, our yearbook team creates a page with baby photos of our 5th graders. If you'd like to participate, please submit a baby photo of your 5th grader with their first and last name as the file name.

Math Challenge Tournament
MATH CHALLENGE TOURNAMENT - RETURNING TO ELLA BAKER IN APRIL!
Exciting news! This year, our school is hosting the National Math Challenge Tournament in person once again. This exciting event provides a valuable and fun opportunity for our young students to show case their skills in a variety of math topics. Math Challenge Tournament® is a National Mathematics tournament open to Grade 2 – 5 students. Students in Grade 1 can participate; however, they will be competing at a grade 2 level, division 2. This tournament is open to students in all 50 states.

Community Night of Service
Join us for a Community Night of Service on January 30th!
Bring the whole family to participate in fun and meaningful projects including assembling bracelet kits for youth in foster care (Treehouse), creating encouraging place-mats for kids receiving meals at a homeless shelter (New Bethlehem), creating art that Sparks Peace (Student Rebuild), and assembling birthday bags for homeless children (Birthday Dreams).

Raise Craze Kindess Fundraiser
COLOR YOUR WORLD WITH KINDNESS!!
Our Second Annual Raise Craze Fundraiser kicks off Friday January 17th! Join us for two weeks of fun when we will work together to meet our goal of completing 500 acts of kindness and raising $15,000 for our school by January 31st. Events will include a school wide night of service on 1/30, prize drawings, a clothing drive, class parties, a traveling trophy, a slime celebration, a glow dance party, and fun prizes just for participating. Registration will be live on January 17th. Even if you had an account last year, you will need to create a new one.
Watch for more information coming home with your student on the 17th!

On Halloween day, after the school assembly and costume parade, stick around for some trick-or-treating at the school! It’s the perfect way to kick off the fun before heading out to the neighborhoods. Food trucks will be available to purchase dinner.
Families and faculty are welcomed to decorate the trunk of your vehicle with family-friendly Halloween themes—think pumpkins, ghosts, and fun costumes (nothing too spooky, this is for elementary kids!). You’ll hand out festive treats as children and their families stop by to admire your creative setups.

Art Volunteers Training
Volunteer to support your children's art lessons in school! Each classroom needs at least two art docent volunteers to help run clay art lessons and support teacher-led art lessons. No prior art or clay experience needed. You will be provided with step-by-step instructions and videos.
Training date is October 15th from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.

When you donate to PTSA, you enrich the educational experience of Ella Baker students by allowing PTSA to fund programs and opportunities such as field trips, 5th grade camp, speakers and assemblies, BBTV, choir, the clay art program, and author visits. We also rely on your donations to purchase classroom supplies for teachers, library books, musical instruments, PE equipment, and school-wide emergency preparedness supplies; to host community events such as the End of Year Celebration and STEAM night; to host staff appreciation events; to provide financial assistance to students in need, and much much more!

PTSA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
All families and staff are welcome to join our Membership Meeting via zoom on Tuesday, October 8th at 7:00pm (new date!) to hear about school and PTSA updates.
